Apply a generous layer of grease to both of the hub's bearing races. Then carefully insert all of the new bearings by pushing them down in the grease. When all of the bearings are installed, there should be about half a bearing space left. Cover all of the bearings with a layer of grease and lightly grease the axle threads.

The "valve test". A quick way to check wheel bearings is to lift the bike so that the wheel in question is off the ground. Then place the heaviest part of the wheel, which is usually the valve (or wheel reflector if you have these), at 3 o'clock. Now, release the wheel and see if the weight of the valve (or reflector) is enough to turn. Hub Bearings (mfg #6903) (2) f. Hub Shell (1) 1. Taking a 14mm Profile Mini Cassette Hub apart is simple. Finally, install the new cassette lockring, but do not tighten yet. Take note of the torque markings on the lockring! Then use a torque wrench to tighten the lockring onto the cassette. Spin the cassette by hand to ensure that it moves freely and does not wobble. Fit the new chain around the derailleur guide pullys and the smallest front chainring. If the chain is still in one piece and where it belongs, but the pedals aren't turning, there could be an issue at the crank arms. To see if this is the case, remove the chain from the front chainring and rear cassette and spin the crank arms. If they don't spin freely, this is where the issue lies.

FYI guys. You need a tape adapter. If anyone here is on ZR2usa, tell Mike a ribbonless cassette won't work. I pulled the ribbon tape out of a cassette and the player will try to run it both directions before kicking it out. The wheels spin freely so it has to be something along the lines of it not detecting the ribbon. But yeah, this is frickin.

They cost about 12$ total but if you just bought the bike, take it back to the Bike shop and have them maintenance it for free. G.

Spin the sprockets backwards. If the fittings spin with the cogs, it is a cassette system with a freehub. How long does a freehub last? If it wears out completely you end up pedalling fast and going nowhere. Mine seem to last about 5,000 to 10,000 miles and the usual signs of wear are noises and play.... so it is able to spin freely. The pawls. 1. It might not be the disc brake. It might be that the hub is seized up from rust. You can check if it is the brake or not by loosening the caliper and spinning the wheel. If it spins freely it is the brake not the hub. If it is the hub you might need to get it regreased. Alternatively it might just be overtightened (although its not likely to. If I hit Play, Fast Forward, or Rewind, the VCR tries to do it, but it can never do it, so it either stops or it powers down.... If they turn freely, put the cassette in your VCR and immediately try to FF to the end of the tape. If you can do that, rewind all the way to the beginning, then try. In contrast, a cassette is a set of sprockets found on the bike's rear hub, firmly held in place by a lockring. A typical bicycle cassette can have 5-13 sprockets, albeit modern bike drivetrains use 9-11. As I mentioned earlier, a cassette is an updated freewheel. So, expect the modern bikes to come with the cassette as opposed to a freewheel.

. Should my wheel spin freely when jacked up? If you jack up both wheels the other will spin reverse direction. If you are in neutral then it would spin freely. Typically a stuck brake will pull to the opposite side when you hit the brakes from it, then when you go you will pull to the side of the stuck brake and smell it for a few miles.

I just had this problem (pedals spinning forwards, cassette spinning, but wheel not moving) today, with a fairly new Mavic wheel freehub, and it was/is a COLD day.... and my pedals were to suddenly spin freely, it could be the death of me.
